SIRI - IPHONE (something new)

Know More About   Siri .

What is Siri?

Siri is the intelligent personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. It allows you to use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. But Siri isn’t like traditional voice recognition software that requires you to remember keywords and speak specific commands. Siri understands your natural speech, and it asks you questions if it needs more information to complete a task.

Siri uses the processing power of the dual-core A5 chip in iPhone 4S, and it uses 3G and Wi-Fi networks to communicate rapidly with Apple’s data centers. So it can quickly understand what you say and what you’re asking for, then quickly return a response.

Siri is currently in beta and we’ll continue to improve it over time.

Using Siri :

How do I ask Siri something?

To talk to Siri, hold down the Home button on your iPhone 4S. You’ll hear two quick beeps and see “What can I help you with?” on the screen. Just begin speaking. The microphone icon lights up to let you know that Siri hears you talking. Once you’ve started a dialogue with Siri, tap the microphone icon to talk to it again.

There’s more than one way to talk to Siri. When the screen is on, simply bring iPhone 4S up to your ear. You’ll hear two quick beeps to indicate that Siri is listening to you.

Siri also works with headphones and Bluetooth headsets. When you’re using headphones with a remote and microphone, you can press and hold the center button to talk to Siri. With a Bluetooth headset, press and hold the call button to bring up Siri.

Siri waits for you to stop talking, but you can also tap the microphone icon to tell Siri you’re done talking. This is useful when there’s a lot of background noise.

What happens after I ask Siri a question or ask it to do something?

When you finish speaking, Siri displays the text of what you said and provides a response. If Siri needs more information to complete a request, it will ask you a question. For example, if you say “Remind me to call my mom,” Siri will ask “What time would you like me to remind you?”

When you use earphones or a headset, Siri reads back text messages and email messages that you’ve dictated before you send them, and it reads back the subjects of reminders before you create them. This is especially helpful when you’re driving and can’t see the iPhone 4S screen.

Do I have to say things a certain way to get Siri to respond?

No. You can speak to Siri as you would to a person — in a natural voice with a conversational tone. If you want to know what the weather will be like tomorrow, simply say “What will the weather be like tomorrow?” Or “Does it look like rain tomorrow?” Or even “Will I need an umbrella tomorrow?” No matter how you ask, Siri will tell you the forecast.

Does Siri work out of the box, or do I have to teach it?

Siri works right out of the box, without any work on your part. And the more you use Siri, the better it will understand you. It does this by learning about your accent and other characteristics of your voice. Siri uses voice recognition algorithms to categorize your voice into one of the dialects or accents it understands. As more people use Siri and it’s exposed to more variations of a language, its overall recognition of dialects and accents will continue to improve, and Siri will work even better.

Siri also uses information from your contacts, music library, calendars, and reminders to better understand what you say. So it responds more accurately when you ask to make a phone call, play music, or create an appointment or reminder.

If you like, you can reset what Siri has learned about your voice by turning Siri off and then back on in Settings > General > Siri.

What Siri Can Do For You

What types of things can I ask Siri about or ask it to do?

You can ask Siri to make a call, find a business and get directions, schedule reminders and meetings, search the web, and more. You can even ask Siri “What can you do for me?” or tap the “i” in the right corner of the screen when you bring Siri up. You’ll see examples of things Siri can do, along with ways you can ask for things.

Which apps does Siri work with?

Siri works with almost all the built-in apps on iPhone 4S. And it’s smart enough to figure out which apps to use to provide you with answers. It also uses Search and Location Services to help you with your requests. Here’s a list of apps and services that Siri works with worldwide:

  • Phone
  • Face Time
  • Music
  • Mail
  • Message
  • Calendar
  • Reminders
  • Notes
  • Contacts
  • Weather
  • Stocks
  • Web search
  • Find my friends
  • Alarms , world clock and timer
  • Wolfram | alpha
  • wikipedia search
  • local search with yelp
  • maps
Maps and local search support will be available in additional countries in 2012.

How does Siri learn who I am?

If Siri knows who you are, it can use your information to help you. To make sure Siri knows who you are, select your contact information in Settings > General > Siri > My Info.

Your information is used for questions like “How do I get home?” or “What good restaurants are near work?”

How does Siri learn about my key relationships?

Siri also helps you by learning about the key people in your life. The first time you ask Siri to call your sister, it will ask you who your sister is. That information is stored in Contacts along with other relationship information like “mom,” “husband,” and “grandma.”

How do location-based reminders work?

Because Siri knows your current location and other locations like “home” and “work,” it can remind you to do a certain task when you leave a location or arrive at a location. So if you tell Siri,“Remind me to call my wife when I leave the office,” Siri does just that.

To turn off the ability for Siri to use your location, go to Settings > Location Services and set the switch for Siri to Off. Regardless of how Locations Services is set for Siri, information about your location is not tracked or stored outside the phone.

Does iPhone 4S take dictation?

Yes. iPhone 4S supports dictation in any app that has a keyboard. So instead of typing, you can speak and your words will be entered as text.

To start dictation, tap the microphone button on your keyboard and start talking. When you’re finished, tap Done and your words will be turned into text. Dictation for each language is built into the keyboard for that language.

Is Siri accessible to blind and visually impaired users?

Yes. VoiceOver, the screen reader built into iOS, can speak any text that’s displayed in responses from Siri. You can navigate through the responses and have each one read to you. This includes the days of a weather forecast, the body of an email, the details of an answer from Wolfram|Alpha, and more.

Language Support and Availability

Siri works exclusively on iPhone 4S. Siri understands and can speak the following languages:

English (United States, United Kingdom, Australia)
French (France)
German (Germany)
In 2012, Siri will support additional languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Spanish.

Can I use Siri in any of these languages in other countries?

Yes. Siri can be enabled in any country, and you can choose to speak to it in English, French, or German. However, Siri is designed to recognize the specific accents and dialects of the supported countries listed above. Since every language has its own accents and dialects, the accuracy rate will be higher for native speakers.

Do you want to find out how to install IIS on Windows XP SP2 without actually having the SP2 CD?

unpack the SP2 installation file using WinRar  and compile a CD image file from it.  mount that on CD image onto a virtual CD.  install and use this Virtual CD to supply the missing files which are somewhere inside the I386 folder.

Here are the steps you can follow to install IIS without having a Windows XP SP2 CD:

  • Download the XP SP2 installation file (softwarepatch.com/windows/xpsp2.html) if you do not already have.
  • Extract the content of the file into a folder using WinRar (win-rar.com) or similar compression software;
  • Start installing IIS using standard procedure (Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs > Windows Components)
  • When it prompts for source folder, browse for the I386 folder that you extracted earlier
  • When it prompts for missing files, browse I386 and its sub-folders for them.
The solution was easier than it look. You do not need to riskily alter the Windows security folder. You do not need to spend time merging SP2 into Windows XP CD. All you need to do is to use what were already there.

Any queries feel free to ask :)

Save and enjoy all the Data of your Android with G Cloud Backup

This is the Guest Author Post , about the Android . I would like to publish the post on behalf of the Guest article made via mail  (Check the Author Bio For more Detail ) .

One part that bothers me most about my Android phone, is having to make a backup every few days . If it is something essential in any smartphone which needs back up  often, then there are only few programs or applications that do this job decently. It is true that we can neglect certain types of data to which we do not give importance (such as registration of contacts, the SMS list and call log), or because we have them synchronized in other ways (for example : contacts Google).Although it is also true, there are some users who need to safeguard all those files .

As I said, there are applications that make backing up your data and / or applications. And still others, in addition to that copy, synchronize data with  cloud . Today I bring an application that stands out from the others. This includes options beyond the conventional ones, such as the list of contacts, call logs and SMS.

G Cloud Backup is very easy to use , at the same time very practical . With a simple  and intuitive interface , at first start it will ask us to create a user profile. That done, it take you to a screen where you will see a list and  select what things we include in our backup . The list includes contacts , call logs , messages , documents, images , music and videos .

One of the major shortcomings of the application is that you can not make a in depth  selection of what we want or do not save. We can not choose to save images or videos, but we must keep it all. This is a pretty big limitation , since the application itself restricted the size of the copy to 1GB .

Once the selection is complete, connect to the Internet, it will start the copy process. When it get finished, we can decide whether to activate the option that the application makes a backup every day or not . In addition, of course there are other options such as trigger a notification to let us know when to run the backup process or whether we want to do backups only when connected to a WiFi network .

G cloud main menu screenG cloud settings menu screenG cloud - Backup Properties screen

And all this is free? Well, no . The application itself is free, but as I said before, only have 1GB of space available. A more than enough in most cases, but falls far short of that I have in Box 50GB or 5GB I have in Dropbox (for the face, both). If we have infinite storage, we have two options: a monthly payment of 2'49 € or an annual payment of € 30'45 ,

How about this application? Would you pay for the services offered by this company? Express yourself in the comments!

Angry Birds next version Mars mission

Angry Birds now on a Mars mission

Pigs and birds will explore the Martian terrain and shed light on Nasa's missions to the Red Planet in the latest update to the game Angry Birds Space.

Rovio Entertainment, creator of Angry Birds, announced the update on Thursday, complete with a cast of agency rovers and landers.

Earlier this year, millions of gamers were introduced to concepts of microgravity in Angry Birds Space, which was supported through a partnership with NASA and includes links to a variety of education information.

"Rovio is teaching huge new audiences about NASA's missions to Mars thanks to this collaboration," said David Weaver, associate administrator for communications at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

"It's a great way to introduce both kids and adults to the wonders of the planet in a fun and entertaining way," he added.

NASA participated with Rovio on Angry Birds Space under a Space Act Agreement to share the excitement of space with the Angry Birds community, educate players about agency projects and programmes, and collaboratively create interactive informational experiences for the public.

The game will include links to Nasa web content about Mars exploration and Nasa missions that are represented in the game.

"We're huge Nasa fans, and we were all cheering the Mars Curiosity rover as it touched down," said Peter Vesterbacka, chief marketing officer of Rovio Entertainment.

"So, working together on the Mars update was a perfect fit, especially since we got such an amazing response to our previous collaboration, the 'Angry Birds Space: Nasa announcement' video, which quickly surged to the top of 2012's viral video charts. We're thrilled to continue working with NASA. Stay tuned for even more great fun and educational content coming up," Vesterbacka stated.

Facebook application with fast loading process - For Apple

Facebook unveils speedier application for iPhone, iPad

facebook
Facebook unveiled a new mobile app on Thursday for its users on Apple iPhone and iPad, saying it would speed up the performance of people accessing the world's biggest social network.

The new app is "a majorpdate to the  uFacebook for iOS rebuilt from the ground up, to focus on one thing, performance," said Facebook product manager Mick Johnson.

Johnson told reporters that those using the app on Apple devices would be able to perform many functions "twice as fast" including opening the application, scrolling through their newsfeed and opening a photo.

"We kept the visual layout pretty much the same," he said. "The focus of this was performance."

Facebook made other improvements to help make its app more user-friendly, Johnson said.

"We saw many people using Facebook for iPhone one-handed," he said, so the developers made it easier to do certain things such as opening or closing a photo by swiping the screen with one's thumb.

The new version of the app for iPad will also allow users to create a "timeline" which can be done on Facebook in other versions.

The Facebook 5.0 app will be compatible with versions 4.3 and newer of the Apple mobile operating system.

Facebook has some 500 million mobile users, but the company does not break down statistics for those using specific operating systems.

New Logo After 25 years - Microsoft

Microsoft launches new logo after 25 years

microsoft new logo
Microsoft will use a new logo for the first time in over two and a half decades. The software titan has created a new logo which has been heavily inspired by the emblem of Windows operating system. This change in the logo also shows the company's focus on the tile-centric Metro interface, which it uses in the Windows Phone platform, XBOX 360 and the upcoming Windows 8 and Office suite.

On the Microsoft Blog on TechNet, Jeff Hansen, the general manager of brand strategy at the company, said that this step will ensure that a consistent user experience can be delivered across all platforms, from PCs and phones to tablets and television.

Rather than the previous emblem, which only had the name of the company, this new logo has 'Microsoft' written in Segoe font on the right and square with four tiles, reminiscent of the Metro UI, on the left.

The new "Microsoft logo" is already on the company website and in retail stores in Boston, Seattle and Bellevue. It will be seen heavily in advertisements as well as intra-organisation communications.

SMS Count From 5 to 20 per day - india

SMS Limit increased to 20 per day

The government on Thursday increased the SMS limit from the present five to 20 with immediate effect. On August 18, the national telecom operators had been asked by department of telecommunications to block bulk messages in India for a period of 15 days, due to which prepaid users could not send more than 5 SMSes per day, while MMSes with over 20kbps could not be delivered. However, postpaid users were unaffected by this ban.

Congress-led UPA government decided to curb bulk text messages as certain groups were found to be spreading hate messages against northeast Indians via SMSes and MMSes. However, this SMS cap adversely affected the daily lives of many citizens across the country as most people rely on text messages to communicate at low cost. This move will bring marginal respite to those complaining about the paltry number of messages that they were able to send each day.

The Internet and Mobile Association of India ( IAMAI) has asked the government to do away with this limit on SMSes for telemarketers since it hampers their daily business. Likewise, coaching centres also say that they are unable to inform students about the timings of their classes.

The national government has not only put a limit on messages but has also put severe restrictions on social media platforms. Over 300 webpages have been blocked by Internet Service Providers as per government directives, which cite hateful content that targets citizens from northeastern parts of India.

Snooze Your Gmail - Updated trick

Add a Snooze Button to Gmail with Snooze Your Email:

snooze gmail

Once installed, Snooze Your Email adds a Snooze button to your toolbar. While reading any message, just click that button, then choose how long you want to snooze it: five minutes, two hours, tomorrow, next Monday, or any custom time or date.

This extension works a little differently than some of the others When the time comes for an email to reappear, you have two options: a desktop reminder that pops up in the corner (and optionally beeps), and simply re-marking that message as unread (though this works only in Gmail). But Snooze Your Email does not bring a snoozed message back to the top of your inbox.

From a reminder-effectiveness standpoint, the desktop pop-up is definitely the way to go. And it's particularly cool because with one click, you can snooze the message again or open it.

LG Starts Production of New Smartphone Screens, Rumored to be Used in Apple’s iPhone

LG kicked off production of new, thinner smartphone screens, which are speculated to be part of Apple’s next-generation iPhone.

“We just began mass production and we don’t expect any disruption in supplies,” said Han Sang-beom, chief executive of LG Display.

Reports are swirling around Apple’s upcoming iPhone, likely to be announced on Sept. 12, though nothing has been confirmed yet. But there is one rumor that nearly everyone agrees on: The new iPhone will have a larger screen than its 3.7-inch predecessor, the iPhone 4S.

Wrist Phone - Apple, Sony Tie Up with Nike ?

Apple, Sony, Nike eyeing your wrist

wrist phone
NEWYORK: Cellphones have already muscled onto watches' turf as a time-telling tool. Now, some of the biggest technology companies are eyeing your wrist, too.

Companies like Apple, Nike and Sony, along with dozens of startups, hope to strap a device on your wrist.

It's quite a disruption for the wristwatch, which has not actually been around all that long. Though said to have been invented in 1868 by the Swiss watchmaker  PhiliPatekppe, it didn't really catch on until after World War I. Before that, people carried watches in their pockets or on chains.

"Watch manufacturers were asking themselves this in the 1900s, if it made sense to have a watch in their pocket," said Blaise Bertrand, industrial design director for IDEO, a design company. "I think that's the same question that is being asked now, but it's in a completely different context with the smartphone in our pockets."

The new wrist devices won't replace smartphones, but rather connect to them. Most will continue the basic task of telling the time, while eliminating the need to dig a smartphone out of your pocket or purse.

But they will provide far more information than the most advanced G-Shock watch available today, or the most expensive chronometer.

For example, Sony this year released the Smartwatch, a 2-inch-square screen that can display emails, Twitter posts and other pieces of text, all pulled from an Android smartphone.

wrist phone

Nike Fuel, a black band with an array of colored lights, measures the energy you exert on a daily basis and sends it to a smartphone. Jawbone sells the Up, a unisex bracelet that tracks a user's daily activity and sends the information to an iPhone application.

Pebble, an innovative watch that can play music and display text, the weather and other information from a phone, caught the public's imagination on Kickstarter, where it raised $10.3 million. It's expected to arrive next year.

It is the extension of the phone that is appealing. "The wrist becomes a remote screen where you now have the ability to control your phone with a number of different applications," said Stephen Sneeden, Sony's product marketing manager.

No More Bulk SMS - INDIA

A government directive to telecom operators, asking them not to allow cell phone users to send more than five SMSs or MMSs at one go over the next 15 days not only failed to check spread of threats to people from the northeast but also ended up creating a communication hurdle for many consumers in Mumbai on Saturday.

Many had no problem sending as many SMSes as they wanted to at one go while many, especially pre-paid customers, were barred from sending more than five SMSs during the entire day. "I was unable to send even a single SMS through the day," said Avanti D'Souza, a bank employee.
Many telecom operators themselves seemed confused about the government order. A Vodafone message to pre-paid subscribers said: "There's been a restriction on sending more than 5 SMSes a day as per government recommendations."

"For bulk SMSs sent by telemarketers, such a directive can be implemented. But blocking such a facility for every single consumer is a technically difficult task. The telecom industry is yet to acquire any such mechanism,"
said an official.

Officials with different telecom operators expressed surprise over the ban order, pointing out that the government was aware of the technical difficulties in implementing such an order and should have taken a decision after consulting the operators.

The directive for all their post-paid consumers due to 'technical constraints'(has not implemented). But for a chunk of pre-paid consumers, it could be implemented, albeit with certain difficulties. "For bulk SMSs sent by telemarketers, such a directive can be implemented. But blocking such a facility for every consumer is technically difficult," said an official.

Officials with different telecom operators expressed surprise over the ban, saying the government was aware of the technical difficulties in implementing such an order and should have taken a decision after consulting the operators. Some officials said the problem could be due to congestion; it was unlikely to have had anything to do with the the directive's implementation.

Windows 8 - 90 days Trial Pack

Windows 8 and new devices that run it won’t hit stores until Oct. 26, Microsoft is ready to show off the new software. Earlier this month, the company released the final version of its operating system to computer makers, and on Wednesday it followed up with a download for evaluation. Anyone can grab the software and use it for 90 days at no charge.

Windows 8

The final builds are available for download here, but my life was made a little easier: Today I received a USB stick from Microsoft with an installation that won’t expire, along with a license to review the software. A few weeks ago, the company also sent me a loaner kit comprised of a Samsung Windows 7 slate, dock, keyboard and mouse, all of which turns the tablet into a full desktop solution. I’ll be upgrading Windows on that device for my tests and putting aside my daily device; current a Google Chromebook.

Windows 8

Granted," I’m very interested in trying out the new Microsoft Surface tablet, as well as new Windows RT slates from Asus, Samsung, Lenovo and Dell, so my testing will really be on the software, not the hardware." From my usage so far on a netbook, the new Windows 8 interface will likely appeal more to those with a touchscreen device, but it is usable with mouse and keyboard.
For those who take advantage of the free Windows 8 evaluation, Microsoft recommends running it in a virtual machine or on its own partition on your PC because this edition can’t be upgraded to the full version. This is simply a first-look for a short amount of time and it’s a smart move by Microsoft: The company can build buzz early for its new operating system in advance of the actual launch.

Android turns Global Leader in selling Smartphone OS

Google's operating system, Androidhas extended its lead in the smartphone market, as Apple's sales were stalled ahead of the launch of its new iPhone 5, according to new research.

Industry analysts at Gartner claimed that Android was installed on 64.1 per cent of smarphones sold worldwide in the second quarter, compared to 43.4 per cent a year ago, as opposed to 18.8 per cent of Apple's smartphone operating system market share.

Android Logo

Android's sales benefited from the decline of Nokia's largely abandoned smartphone operating system, Symbian and BlackBerry'sResearch In Motion (RIM), whose market share was more than halved, from 11.7 percent to 5.2 per cent, the Telegraph reports.

According to the research, Apple's smartphone operating system market share in the second quarter was 18.8 per cent, up slightly from 18.2 per cent a year ago. Gartner said iOS users appeared to be holding off purchasing a new device before the expected introduction of theiPhone 5 in September.

The study also showed that Microsoft's slow response to the smartphone boom continued, with shares of Windows Mobile growing from 1.6 per cent to only 2.7 per cent.

On the manufacturing side, Apple and Samsung maintained their rivalry ahead of other players such as HTC and Huawei, the paper said.

Sexy Samsung Galaxy Note II image Leaked

Samsung Galaxy Note2

A leaked image of the front panel of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note II has surfaced online. The image, provided to GSMArena.com by an anonymous tipster, shows that the design theme of the upcoming phablet (phone+tablet) is quite similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S III.

The look is characterised by curved edges and a standard single hardware button flanked by a haptic key on either side. The Galaxy Note II is expected to be launched within the next few weeks, most likely during the SamsungUnpacked event on August 29, 2012.

In its post, GSMarena said that the authenticity of the image could not be verified by the tipster either, which casts some shadows over its credibility. However, rumours say that the design of the second generation Galaxy Note will be heavily inspired by Galaxy S III, thus gaining some credence to the image.

The post said that the tipster also provided data about the specifications of the yet-to-be-launched Note II. In line with speculations, these include a 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED touchscreen with regular RGB matrix. The tipster also informed GSMArena that the device was subjected for Full HD videos, but that put pressure on the battery of the device, and is likely to be shelved.

Another speculation reinforced by the post was the inclusion of a 1.5GHz Exynos 4 quad-core processor and 8MP rear camera. Samsung Galaxy Note is likely to be launched with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), since the Jelly Bean update for the same is still under development, the post stated.
