Blackberry Z10 - An overview of the features and specifications

Over the past few years, Android and iOS smartphones have left the competition far behind to become the leading players in the fiercely competitive mobile devices market. However, things are going to heat up with the arrival of Blackberry 10 operating system. RIM, which has renamed itself Blackberry to offer better branding, had to endure a tough spell of skrinking sales and profits in recent times. The company is now hoping that its latest handsets - the Blackberry Z10 and Blackberry Q10, both powered by BB10 operating system, can help it regain ground on its rivals.

The Blackberry Z10 is a full-touch smartphone with 4G capabilities. It has the dimensions 130 x 65.6 x 9 mm and weighs merely 137.5 grams. The design and build quality of the phone is excellent, giving you a nice and solid feel while handling. At the front side, it has a sharp and bright 4.2 inches capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 768 X 1280 pixels. The display supports 16 million colors and has a pixel density of 355 ppi which results in sharp and high definition viewing experience.

The Blackberry Z10 has an 8 megapixel camera which can be used to take photos up to a resolution of 3264 X 2448 pixels with added features like face detection, smile detection, geo-tagging and much more. Users can also shoot high definition videos of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. The camera has built-in image stabilization and video stabilization which nullifies the noise levels and blur caused by shaking of hands while using it. There is an LED flash as well which maintains the sharpness and quality of the resulting photos and videos even in low light areas. A photo and video editor has also been provided which can be used to modify the results within seconds after capturing.

Blackberry Z10 features a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset whose dual-core processor has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. In addition, there is an Adreno 225 GPU for handling graphics processing and 2 GB of RAM. Internal memory of the phone stands at 16 GB which might not be enough for everyone. So, a microSD card has been provided as well which supports cards of up to 64 GB. The phone is loaded with Blackberry OS 10 which has been redesigned and improved to bring in more touch based features. You
get a wide range of apps like Facebook, Twitter, Blackberry Maps, Photo editor, organizer, music and video player and much more.
